PATH is a grassroots, non-profit, tax exempt organization formed in 1986 to promote traffic safety education, and a safe environment on roadways and trails for recreation, fitness and alternative modes of transportation. PATH's mission is to safely connect the people and places on Hawaii Island with pathways and bikeways.
PATH believes a bicycling and walking are integral components of a sustainable energy future for Hawaii as safe, efficient, oil-free transportation.

Work with a variety of stakeholders, including government, developers, other organizations to ensure safe biking and walking infrastructure on Hawaii Island |

Continuing development and delivery of bicycle skills and traffic safety education for children and adults. |

Promoting Safe Routes to School, Walk to School Day, and Walking Bus Programs |

Advocating for paved shoulders along all State and County roadways marked for shared multi-use. |

Advocating for bicycling as part of the state's comprehensive energy sustainability strategy as a safe, efficient oil-free form of transportation |

Raising awareness of non-motorized transportation’s safety concerns to drivers of motorized vehicles, police officers, and driver education instructors. |

Encouraging standardization in the design and engineering aspects of road construction that accommodate safe, shared use by motorized and non-motorized users. |
